Just like the olden days, I’m blogging by candlelight. The power went out after a transformer blew (in dramatic fashion, glowing like a giant sparkler). John is cooking by flashlight and I’m cozied up on the couch getting re-acquainted with this lovely yarn.

I bought it last year at the Chelsea Fleece Fair and it’s a beautiful thick-and-thin handspun yarn. It’s more brightly-colored than the pictures show. Orange, red and yellow, with a warm brown. I had grand plans to knit a slouchy beret, but I couldn’t find just the right pattern and began knitting a swatch just to get a feel for the texture. Well, after months of lying idle, that swatch is now on its’ way to becoming a scarf. I’m doing a simple seed stitch, nothing fancy. The yarn is doing all the work here.
