We waited all winter to taste some of the tomatoes that we canned last summer. When we finally opened up a jar last night, the scent of tomato was so strong and beautiful. I don’t think I’ve eaten a tomato all winter. And, mmm, this one (sprinkled with a little salt and pepper) tasted *delicious*.

But that was just a tease. We still have to get through spring. And all this sunshine and warm weather and today’s rainy day and muddy paws are reassuring me that Spring is, in fact, on its way.

But the surest sign came in yesterday’s mail…
